Water Shutoffs

As of March 1, shutoffs are resuming for customers who have not paid their bills for over 90 days. We have not shut off water for over 4 years. This is something we need to do to support our business and continue providing reliable service to all of our customers.

Our goal is to help customers avoid water shutoffs. Learn more here.

CA Arrearage Assistance Funds

SJW knows that COVID impacted our customers’ ability to pay their bills. In order to help, SJW has applied for arrearage assistance from the State Water Board. This funding may be applied to customer debt accrued from June 15, 2021 through December 31, 2022. We will be providing more information throughout the process. Please head here for further details.

On July 10, 2023, Governor Newsom signed a budget trailer bill expanding the Arrearages Program to provide relief to community water systems for unpaid bills related to the pandemic.

This new Extended Water and Wastewater Arrearage Payment Program extends the COVID Relief Period to December 31, 2022.  This program has $600 million in federal funding.
